GM H2 unit to supply fuel cells for Autocar's heavy vehicles

According to Reuters, General Motors and Autocar Industries have agreed to collaborate on developing H2-powered heavy vehicles using GM's fuel cell unit Hydrotec. The vehicles, including cement mixers, refuse trucks, and road maintenance vehicles, are expected to go into production in 2026.

Hydrotec will provide power cubes of more than 300 H2 fuel cells, thermal and power management systems, and proprietary controls. H2 fuel cells are seen as a more practical alternative to electric vehicles for heavy vehicles because they can refuel in minutes and have a longer range.
