MB Energy, Daimler Truck AG and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. have signed a Joint Development Agreement to establish a liquefied hydrogen supply chain to Europe via the Port of Hamburg. 

The European Commission has selected nine hydrogen production projects under the third auction of the European Hydrogen Bank. Across seven countries in the European Economic Area, the projects are expected to provide almost 1.1 giga-watts of electrolyser capacity and produce over 1.3 million tons of hydrogen over their first 10 years of operation, with an estimated greenhouse gas emissions avoidance of 9 million tons of CO2 equivalent. 

With the opening of its new H₂ testing laboratory at its Garching site near Munich, TÜV SÜD is consistently expanding its commitment to this forward-looking sector.

Subject to the final investment decision, the terminal is planned to be built on the site of the Blumensand tank terminal in the Port of Hamburg.
