Quest One is expanding its modular hydrogen platform (MHP) with new functionalities, addressing additional requirements of industrial scale hydrogen production. The MHP is now available in an outdoor configuration. This eliminates the need to construct a dedicated electrolyzer building, including the associated effort and investments required for ventilation, fire protection and coordination between multiple trades and interfaces. As a result, project complexity and overall costs are significantly reduced, while implementation timelines are shortened; particularly at sites with limited space availability or restrictive construction requirements.
The new configuration enables the platform to be deployed as an open-air installation and is ideally suited for refinery and chemical plant environments, which typically rely on large-scale outdoor process equipment.
Beyond the electrolyzer itself, Quest One is expanding the functional system scope of the MHP. The update includes integrated solutions surrounding the plant, such as cooling systems, freshwater treatment and hydrogen purification for which Quest One was able to draw on expertise from its containerized solution ME450. By addressing key interfaces with adjacent plant technology, Quest One reduces integration effort on the customer side. The result is a technically coordinated overall system that simplifies engineering, minimizes planning risks and supports high operational reliability.
The MHP is designed as a scalable PEM electrolysis platform that combines modular 10-megawatt units into plants with capacities exceeding 100 megawatts. The modules are fully pre integrated, including power supply and water treatment. With a system efficiency of up to 77%, a benchmark value in PEM technology, high plant availability and a comprehensive maintenance concept, the MHP is engineered for continuous industrial operation. Its skid-based design allows rapid integration into existing industrial environments and supports flexible deployment under varying site conditions, space constraints and safety requirements.
In addition, Quest One provides comprehensive services and warranties that support customers throughout the entire lifecycle of the plant, from planning and implementation to operation and maintenance. Quest One’s MHP demo plant in Augsburg offers first-hand insights into the technical implementation and illustrates the construction and operation of a large scale electrolyzer under industrial conditions. It can be visited year-round.
