Hyundai announced plans to launch a scalable H₂ production and dispensing facility for Class-8 heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles. The station will be located just 10 miles from the Port of Savannah, Georgia.

As the world engages in an energy transition, low-/zero-carbon H₂ is thought of as a gamechanger in helping countries reach their net-zero targets. This has led to a stark rise in investments along the H₂ value chain, from renewable energy capacity builds and H₂ production to downstream infrastructure and fueling capabilities.

A nonlinear increase is found in balancing costs as wind/solar penetration rises. The model's prediction of balancing costs at the 70% wind/solar threshold, according to the International Energy Agency's (IEA's) net-zero forecast, results in balancing costs of nearly $1,000/MWh, which are likely to be politically infeasible. 

H₂Tech (H₂T) sat down with Cameron Poole (CP) at the Hydrogen Americas Summit to discuss Louisiana's unique position in the green hydrogen (H₂) industry, highlighting the state's high per capita consumption and historical leadership in traditional H₂ production. They emphasize the potential of green H₂ to reduce emissions and serve as a building block for other necessary products globally. Cameron also provides more details on funding for the H2theFuture project and the Global Wind Organization accreditation program.

To qualify for the tax credit, green H₂ production must meet rigorous criteria regarding additionality, deliverability and time matching, particularly concerning the significant electricity consumption during production.
